The Ebonix Foundation C.I.C

A UK-based mission-led organisation supporting representation, access, and education within games, digital culture and emerging technologies.

The Ebonix Foundation C.I.C exists to advance the representation of Black identity within games, virtual worlds, and emerging technologies.

The Foundation supports education, access, and sustainable career pathways for under-represented creators by delivering exhibitions, public programmes, research, and skills-based initiatives that challenge industry norms, expand who gets to create, and reshape how digital culture is imagined, built, and experienced.

Our flagship programme, Black Lines of Code, explores Black identity in virtual worlds through exhibitions, public programmes, and creative commissions.

The Objects

The objects of The Ebonix Foundation C.I.C are to:

  • Advance public understanding of Black identity, culture, and lived experience within games, virtual worlds, and emerging digital technologies.

  • Promote education, skills development, and access to creative and technical pathways for people from under-represented backgrounds, particularly within gaming, digital art, and immersive media.

  • Support the creation, production, and presentation of exhibitions, public programmes, workshops, talks, and cultural events that explore representation, identity, and technology.

  • Commission, support, and showcase the work of artists, technologists, researchers, and creatives whose practices contribute to more inclusive digital futures.

  • Conduct and disseminate research, learning resources, and public-facing content that challenges exclusionary industry practices and expands who gets to create and be represented in digital spaces.

  • Collaborate with cultural institutions, educational bodies, industry partners, and community organisations to increase access, visibility, and opportunity within the creative and technology sectors.

Our mission

To advance representation, access, and cultural power for underrepresented creators at the intersection of games, digital culture, and emerging technology.

Our vision

We want to live in a world where Black identity, culture, and creativity are fully represented, celebrated, and shaped in digital and virtual worlds by the people who live them — and where every young person, regardless of background, has the tools and space to help build it.

Our Brand Pillars

Representation & Culture

We create exhibitions, public programmes, and cultural events that centre Black identity, creativity, and lived experience in games and digital culture. Through our flagship programme Black Lines of Code, we bring together artists, developers, researchers, and audiences to reimagine who gets to shape digital futures.

partnerships & Collaborations

We believe that access to creative technology should not be determined by background or circumstance. We work directly with young people from disadvantaged communities to remove material and structural barriers — providing tools, space, and support so they can explore creative expression through technology, freely and on their own terms.

We design and deliver workshops, learning programmes, and skills development opportunities that open doors into gaming, digital art, immersive media, and creative technology. Our education work is built around the communities that have historically been excluded from these industries.

We investigate, document, and challenge the structures and practices that limit representation in digital culture. Through research, publications, and publicly accessible resources, we contribute to a growing body of knowledge that advocates for more inclusive and equitable digital industries.

We work alongside cultural institutions, educational bodies, industry partners, and community organisations — in the UK and internationally — to amplify impact, increase access, and build the kinds of relationships that create lasting systemic change.
